Alaska isn't for everyone you have to be able to adjust to the fact that you are isolated from the lower 48 much like Hawaii. And it can get so cold you have to plug your vehicle in to an outlet to keep the engine warm enough for it to start. Sometimes you find your self shopping on the internet for certain things you can't find in local stores. Yet you still try to find as much as you can locally because it is important to "Buy Alaska" whenever possible.

Most of the people you meet up here are fiercely independent and strong on individualism while at the same time very willing to help their neighbor.

From wanting to see the Northern Lights to being stationed in the military there are many reasons why people come to Alaska. The lucky ones were born here.
